Am Sonntag, 6. Juli 2025, gibt es nach dem Gottesdienst erneut einen Kultursonntag in der Deutschen Kirche in Liverpool. Dr. Richard Millington von der University of Chester spricht über „A Most Puzzling Case: Crime and Criminality in East Germany“.
Er schreibt dazu:
„In 1981, a crossword puzzle found with the body of a murdered boy near Leipzig in East Germany led officers of the People’s Police to collect tens of thousands of handwriting samples to track down the killer. The policemen and women could not, however, tell people why they were being asked for their handwriting, since the murder ran counter to the East German regime’s narrative that serious crime was the sole preserve of capitalist societies. In this talk, historian of East Germany Dr Richard Millington discusses this case and more in an account of his research into crime and criminality behind the Berlin Wall.“
Der Vortrag wird auf Englisch sein, alle sind willkommen!
